BookBefore you ask
Honestly, yes, acoustic drums are loud, and it depends on your space. If you have a room where noise is fine, great. If not, there are quiet options: practice kits with low-volume cymbals, electronic kits, or simply a practice pad. Loudness is a solvable problem, not a reason to skip drums.
You don't need a drum kit to start. A practice pad and a pair of sticks are enough for the first months, roughly 60 to 80 euros. Later you can add a pedal, that's another 100 to 200. A real kit comes when you know you're staying.
Everything comes down to practice and the will to practice: the feeling that this is something you want to put your time into. I still haven't met a person who practices and doesn't solve the problem. Drums aren't talent, drums are dedication. And don't forget the main thing: have fun. Drums are a seriously fun instrument, and the feel comes with time.
For kids, around 7 is a realistic start. For the first lessons it helps if a parent stays around, it's easier for everyone. And for adults: it's never too late. Nobody is too old for a first groove.
